Important Information:

ONLY incoming Freshman were sent a mailing with paperwork needed. All others can access the necessary paperwork on the HHS web site (hanoverhigh.us) Go to sports, and there is a list of the participation forms needed. Or stop by the athletic office and pick them up.

For the first day of practice/tryouts the following is paperwork is required in order to participate:

a CURRENT physical (one that is less than 2 years old) * does not have to be on OUR FORM.
a PARENTAL MEDICAL FORM (on the web site)
a PERMISSION TO TREAT FORM (on the web site)
The participation fee of $150.00 **Check should be written to HHS (please put what sport you child will be participating in on the memo line)

Winter sports are just around the corner.

Each sport will have a sign-up meeting. Please watch the walls in school to see when these meetings will be held.

Here are the starting dates for each of the winter sports

**Please remember that no athlete can begin a winter sport until they have a current Physical (less than two years old) on file with the athletic office.

-All participating athletes need an up to date physical (Less than two years old) on file in the athletic office.

-A health questionnaire, treatment card and the participation fee of $125.00.

-All forms are on the Hanover High School web site @ hanoverhigh.us.

-These forms and the fee need to be in the athletic office prior to the first day of sports.

-If you can't print the forms, we have hard copies in the athletic office.

-Checks should be made out to: "HHS" and the sport you will be participating in should be indicated in the memo of the check.

UPDATE:
Varsity & JV Boys Basketball scheduled for TONIGHT has been postponed until TOMORROW night 2-17-10. Varsity Boys will play @ 5:30 and Varsity Girls will play @ 7:00. Both JV games have been cancelled. Varsity Girls Hockey has also been cancelled for tonight due to the impending storm.

**Have potential athletes watch the walls at the high school for signs of upcoming sign-up meetings. Most winter sports will have their sign-up meetings during the first or second week of November. If your child is unable to make the sign up meeting, have them stop by the athletic office to get the necessary paperwork. All forms are on the web sight and also available in the athletic office.

*PLEASE make sure that physicals are up to date. Physicals are good for two years. You can call the athletic office to check on the date of the last physical that we have on file. If one is needed, make an appointment NOW, it can take months to get a physical. Athletes will NOT be allowed to start their sport until a completed physical has been done.

Fall Sports Start-up Information:

**It is important the all paperwork be in the athletic office prior to the first day. Needed forms can be found on the web sight @hanoverhigh.us. Physicals are good for two years and do not have to be on the form that we provide. Whatever your provider supplies is fine. The Participation fee is now $125.00 and checks should be made out to HHS Athletics.

Football Practice will start on Wednesday 8-12-09. All candidates should meet in the High School locker room at 7:00 am. Practices will be from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm & 4:00pm - 6:30pm

There is a break in between sessions to avoid the heat as much as possible.

Girls Soccer: Sunday 8-16-09, Meet at the HHS track at 4:00 for a players meeting and announcements. Following the meeting any VARSITY candidates will have their 1 miles timed trial. Please bring running shoes/outfit. Time trials will be conducted in heats of 10+/-. We will be done before 6:00pm Monday 8-17-09 all VARSITY candidates will meet at Sachem Field from 8:00 am - 9:45. Non-Varsity Candidates will meet at Sachem Field @5:00pm - 7:00pm. VARSITY Candidates MUST attend BOTH sessions(morning and evening)

Field Hockey: All Candidates meet at the High School track @9:30 am - 11:00 am Practices for the first week are: Monday thru Friday from 4:30 - 7:00pm. Second Session will be Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9:30 am to 11:00am. So, three days a weeks there will be TWO sessions each day.

Boys Soccer: Monday 8-17-09: Varsity & JV Candidates meet at Huntley Meadows in Norwich. Practice will be from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. RESERVE candidates start Monday 8-24-09. Time to be announced.

Golf: Monday 8-17-09: All candidates meet at the Practice Green on Route 10 at Hanover Country Club @7:00 am. Practice will be until 2:00pm

Volleyball: Monday 8-17-09: All candidates meet in the High School gym @8:45 am - 11:30 am. VARSITY only candidates will also practice 1:00pm - 3:30pm. JV Candidates will only attend the first session in the morning.

Cross Country: Monday 8-17-09: All candidates meet on the High School Track @9:00am. Practice will be from 9:00am - 11:00 am.

Welcome to the Hanover High School Sports Update Blog

Here I will post updates and happenings for all athletes and their parents.

The goal of this blog is to keep everyone up to date on all information.

Fall Sports start up dates:

Football : August 12th

All other fall sports begin on August 17th
